PM Jan Dhan Yojana: Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) started on 28 August 2014 to provide banking facility to every Indian, especially those who were not yet associated with the financial system.The plan has been improved over time and new features have been added so that the account holders feel more secure, convenient and supported.Know below, information about the special features and new changes that are currently applicable and benefit the account holders.
Ease of opening account and zero balance
Now opening an account in PMJDY has become easier than before because more documents are not required.If you have an Aadhaar card then you only have to show that.If the address is changed, the certificate is also valid.There is no condition of any minimum balance in this account, that is, the account can also open on Zero-Balance and will not be closed even if there is no amount kept in it.
Rupay debit cards and insurance coverage
Every public money account holder gets Rupay Debit Card.It also includes an accident insurance cover which is up to ₹ 2 lakh if the account has been opened after 28 August 2018.Coverage of ₹ 1 lakh is available on old accounts.To take advantage of this facility, it is necessary to complete the card activated and KYC.
overdraft facility
Eligible Jan Dhan account holders can now also get overdraft (OD) facility.Its limit is up to ₹ 10,000.This facility is very useful when you suddenly increase spending or need money during emergency.However, OD facility will be available only when the account is active for some time and KYC is completely updated.
Direct connection with government schemes
People who are now involved in DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).That is, the amount of government schemes like subsidy, pension and insurance is sent directly to your account.Apart from this, these accounts are also associated with schemes like PMSBY (Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana), PMJJBY (Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana) and APY (Atal Pension Yojana).
New KYC and Account Activation Camp
Recently, the government has launched a campaign in which KYC of PMJDY account holders is being updated at village and panchayat levels.Banks are setting special camps to activate accounts whose KYC is incomplete or which is inactive for a long time.If the KYC is not completed, there may also be a risk of closing the account.
